I haven’t actually been asked any questions yet, so this is all theoretical. Hopefully this does address at least some people’s questions.
General Questions
What is Tetriamancy?
Tetriamancy is a form of divination, like Tarot, that places 15 four-part figures with three different states per part onto a tetrahedron for analysis. It has its own flavor, and its own strengths and weaknesses.
When was Tetriamancy conceived?
Technically, sometime in 2022 or 2023. However, much of it became manifest on 9/6/2026 in the evening.
The goal/challenge to myself has been to have working documentation for any would-be practitioner within a week. Given that today is 9/12/2026, I would say I’ve very nearly succeeded.
What kinds of questions is Tetriamancy good at?
Tetriamancy is especially good at questions involving situations, relationships, development, conflict, possibility, consequence, and change.
It tends to work better with:
- What is happening here?
- What is shaping this situation?
- What is preventing this from developing?
- What is likely to happen if I continue along this path?
than with “yes or no” questions or “pick one of theese three restaurants” helpers.
Tetriamancy gives you a structure to examine. It tends to be most useful when the question gives that structure something substantial to describe.
What kinds of questions is Tetriamancy bad at?
Very simple questions often do not need a fifteen-position chart.
If all you really want is:
Should I choose A or B?
a coin toss may do just fine.
Likewise, Tetriamancy is not designed to retrieve exact factual information such as lottery numbers, passwords, addresses, names, dates, and so on.
Use the tool that fits the question.
Was AI used in the creation of Tetriamancy?
It depends which part you’re talking about: the concept? Absolutely not. The mechanics, e.g., addition, etc.? Not in the least. Some text it had spawned inspiration that led to me creating the chart, but the Qabalah-influence was human-conceived and directed.
So as a divination system, Tetriamancy is very much my brain-child.
Some of the writing on this website currently is (heavily) edited AI. Some of the fancier looking images are AI-generated, but many of the others were done by me in MS Paint. The website itself is AI coded.
The bulk of what is AI-authored are the analyses of the 81 figures. To do this in a single week while working full-time would not be feasible for me (again: the goal was to do this in a week once I had cemented how the system worked).
It is very much my intention to go through those with a fine-toothed comb and improve upon them.
As has been stated many other places on the site, the 81 figure analyses are not required to interpret a chart; they are captured patterns.
My Version History will provide accounts of those reviews.
Can Tetriamancy be used to predict the future?
As with all divination, Tetriamancy is often used to understand things beyond our regular, ordinary means of comprehension.
Rather than saying what it could or couldn’t be used for, what it can or cannot accomplish, I will share what it does.
All divination systems are, in some sense or another, non-linear books of life: they give a depiction of reality, emphasize some parts while de-emphasizing others. These non-linear books of life are excellent for asking questions to and examining their responses in careful readings. You will likely learn a lot about the world, both inside and out, as you engage in readings.
If you perform a Tetriamancy reading with a solid question in mind well-suited for Tetriamancy, it will offer a perspective that is likely at least a little different from your own.
Your perspective is your Thesis. It is what you believe, however specific or vague. Tetriamancy offers an alternative, an Antithesis.
Through examination of the Thesis and Antithesis, a deeper understanding of the situation is had, yielding a Synthesis.
All forms of divination do this. Tetriamancy is no different.
If Tetriamancy can tell the future, so can Tarot cards, coin-tosses, bone throws, observing the movement of birds in the sky, interpreting the stars, and so on.
Can Tetriamancy be used to identify past events?
See the previous question.
Tetriamancy is more reliable for reconstructing the structure and dynamics of a past situation than for retrieving exact historical facts.
Again: if Tetriamancy can tell the past, so can the Yi Ching, Geomancy, casting runes, bibliomancy, and so on.
Is Tetriamancy a better version of Geomancy?
Absolutely not. Tetriamancy should not be granted any privileges over other divination systems, Geomancy included.
Geomancy is likely better for answering certain questions than Tetriamancy—and vice versa!
As with all divination: use the tool that seems most valuable for the situation or that you feel called to use for whatever reason.
Learning and Practice
Do I need to memorize all 81 figures?
No.
Please don’t make that your first goal.
Each figure can be interpreted structurally by examining its four parts and asking what is Manifest, Liminal, or Latent.
The 81 Figures section is there to help you, not to become an examination you have to pass.
Even experienced practitioners should feel free to use reference material.
Do I need to interpret all fifteen positions every time?
No.
You should understand what is in the chart, but not every reading requires fifteen miniature essays.
Begin with the four Sources.
Then look at the Bounds and Fields that seem especially relevant.
Notice repetition.
Finish with the Whole.
A reading should become clearer as you move through it, not more buried under commentary.
Can I use Tetriamancy without the 81 Figures glossary?
Yes.
In fact, learning to interpret figures from their component parts is strongly encouraged.
The glossary gives each figure an identity, keywords, commentary, and additional symbolic relationships, but it is there to supplement structural interpretation rather than replace it.
Can I use a computer to generate the figures?
Yes.
You can generate the four Sources physically or digitally.
The important thing is that the method genuinely produces one of the three states for each part rather than allowing you to consciously choose the outcome.
If tossing objects across your desk feels more meaningful to you, do that.
If pressing a button feels just as meaningful, do that instead.
Do I need to perform a ritual before a reading?
No.
If ritual helps you focus, mark the occasion, establish intent, or enter the right mental space, use one.
If not, don’t.
The system itself does not require an invocation, prayer, consecrated tool, special clothing, moon phase, candle color, or strategically positioned cat.
Can I ask the same question more than once?
You can.
Whether you should depends on why you are doing it.
If circumstances have changed, another reading may be useful.
If you are repeatedly casting because you dislike the first answer, you may simply be negotiating with the oracle until it tells you what you wanted to hear.
At that point, stop.
Qabalah and Correspondences
Do I need to know Qabalah to practice Tetriamancy?
No.
The Qabalistic structure adds another layer of meaning, but the system has its own native grammar.
You can understand A as Will, B as Encounter, C as Form, and D as Actuality without knowing Atziluth, Briah, Yetzirah, or Assiah.
Likewise, you can understand the chart positions without knowing their Sephirotic correspondences.
Qabalah deepens the system.
It is not an entrance requirement.
Why use Qabalah at all?
Because the structure fits unusually well.
The Four Worlds provide a symbolic language for Will, Encounter, Form, and Actuality.
The Tree of Life maps naturally onto many of the internal relationships of the tetrahedron.
Adam Kadmon provides a language for the Whole.
The Veils of Negative Existence provide a language for what lies outside it.
None of these correspondences are necessary merely to make Tetriamancy function.
They are present because they illuminate aspects of the system that would otherwise be harder to name.
Are the Tarot, astrological, rune, and other correspondences part of the core system?
Not in the same sense as the three states, four components, composition, or chart positions.
They are additional symbolic lenses.
A correspondence can suggest another way to think about a figure without becoming its definition.
If a correspondence helps, use it.
If it doesn’t, ignore it.
Is Tetriamancy’s use of Qabalah cultural appropriation?
Tetriamancy draws specifically from Hermetic Qabalah, a Western esoteric tradition that itself developed through the adaptation of Jewish Kabbalistic ideas into Christian and occult contexts.
That history is complicated, and it would be dishonest to pretend those symbols appeared in Western occultism without a Jewish origin.
Tetriamancy therefore does not claim its Qabalistic correspondences to be traditional Jewish Kabbalah, nor does it present itself as an authority on Jewish mystical practice. Its use of the Tree of Life, the Four Worlds, Adam Kadmon, and related concepts belongs to the Hermetic/esoteric lineage in which those ideas were already being reinterpreted.
Whether that use should be called cultural appropriation is ultimately something readers may reasonably disagree about. My aim is to be explicit about the lineage, avoid claiming authenticity I do not possess, and treat the source traditions as traditions rather than as a pile of aesthetically useful symbols.
If you prefer to practice Tetriamancy without the Qabalistic layer—for any reason—the system is designed so that you can.
The System Itself
Is Tetriamancy finished?
That depends on what “finished” means.
Its central structure is increasingly stable, but interpretation develops through use.
Figures acquire nuance.
Techniques are refined.
Weak explanations get replaced by better ones.
Practitioners may discover relationships I did not notice.
I expect the system to continue developing, especially while it is young.
Major changes that affect practice will be documented rather than silently rewritten.
Can people disagree about what a figure means?
Of course.
Tetriamancy is a symbolic language, not a lookup table.
The structure places constraints on interpretation, but those constraints do not produce one mandatory sentence.
Two competent practitioners may emphasize different aspects of the same figure while still remaining faithful to its structure.
That is not necessarily a flaw.
Interpretation is part of divination.
Can people develop their own Tetriamantic techniques?
Please do.
A divinatory system becomes far more interesting once people other than its creator begin finding things to do with it.
The important question is whether a technique grows coherently from the structure of Tetriamancy or is simply attached to it because it sounds interesting.
Experiment.
Keep records.
Share what works.
Let other people try to break it.
Where should I start?
Start with Start Here.
Then work through the practical material in Learn:
- Prepare a question.
- Generate the figures.
- Fill in the chart.
- Read the chart.
Use Vocabulary whenever you need it.
You do not need to understand the entire metaphysics, memorize the figures, or learn every correspondence before doing your first reading.
The fastest way to learn Tetriamancy is eventually to stop reading about Tetriamancy and perform Tetriamancy.
